| MICHELLE
A. JACKSON (formerly Blackwell) has intricate
knowledge of the ad valorem property taxation system.
During her tenure at the Cook County Assessor’s Office,
she served as a Commercial / Special Properties analyst
where she examined real estate tax appeals and made
decisions concerning the appropriate valuation of
commercial and special use properties. She then served
as the Assessor’s Associate General Counsel, where she
was involved in all legal issues concerning the
Assessor’s Office, with particular emphasis on exempt
properties and certificates of error.
She has taken numerous
courses in the area of ad valorem property taxation and has
earned her designation as a Certified Illinois Assessing
Official. She is a member of the International
Association of Assessing Officials, as well as the
Chicago Bar Association’s Real Estate Taxation
Committee.
Ms. Jackson is active in
the community as a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority,
Inc. and the AKARAMA Foundation, which provide
educational, financial, and vocational programs for
children and underprivileged adults.
Ms. Jackson earned her
B.A. with distinction from the University of Illinois at
Chicago and her J.D. from the University of Chicago Law
School. She was admitted to the Illinois bar in 1990.
